Someone I can relate to...

We studied at the computer lab on the third day of the class. I learned about citations. Also, we studied the essay, ‘The Struggle to Be an All-American Girl.’ I could understand the writer’s feeling because I was in a similar situation as her when I lived abroad before. I used to avoid my country’s language and insisted on speaking Chinese. Also, I hated eating and even smelling Korean food, such as kimchi. However, now, I love my language and food. Her essay was so interesting to me because I could sympathize with the writer.

  1. Cool. You actually went through the same thing? It's really nice to relate your personal experience to things we learn in class because it's what makes the subject interesting.

  2. It's nice to be able to relate to someone or something, especially in a story because it helps you understand it more.
