Writing Process Worksheet and Essay
Reviewing on what the writing process worksheet is has greatly refreshed my memory on how thoughts should be organized. The worksheet is a very useful source I just need to train myself on how to use it. To me, without the worksheet comes scattered and disorganized thoughts. You cannot have disorganized thoughts in a well written essay. The worksheet comes hand in hand with a well-written essay.
End of Week Two
Good evening everyone, once again, our task today was to meet online and post our discussion. Today we read a short essay by a girl named Vera. Her essay was very interesting, for it kept the reader entertained and interested in her topic. It is important to write a paper that will draw the reader's attention. Yes, there are boring research papers such as molecular bonds, but there are ways to make that topic interesting too! Before you start on any writing assignment, keep in mind that you want to draw readers to your paper. Another guide in writing your paper is the Writing Process Worksheet. The worksheet will help lead you through all the stages in writing, which are pre-writing, organization, and writing with revision. We should follow the stages in order so for a high performance in your final writing.
I hope that everyone will have a great New Year's! Be safe and see you all next year! :)

I hope everybody has a blessed new year. The intercession is going really fast. I know that one day it would just be a week. The chapter we went through with this class has help me alot. It was a good year of learning to be a better writer. I know that there are more things to come next year. So, I hope you guys have a fun and joyful new year!
Today was another last day for our online session. It was a good chapter and the value they give was incredible. Editing involves a final correcting of simple mistakes and fundamentals such as spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. It is usually the final stage of the writing process; it involves a cautious examination of your work. There are four different types of paragraphs. The four paragraphs include the introductory, developmental, transitional, and concluding. The stage three helps the writer to edit by making changes to make the paper better. It allows the writer to check through the errors in punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. An essay is a group of paragraphs, each with the function of supporting a controlling idea called the thesis. The main parts of the essay include the introduction, development, transition, and conclusion. It was a productive chapter.
Last friday of 2011
Hey everyone! Today, we had an online session and we discussed chapter 5 and 6. As we moved from one chapter to another, I realized that they are all linked together. Chapter 5 introduces the four parts of a paragraph. Chapter 6 was also the same but, it deals with essay. Chapter 6 was more focused on the developmental part, introduction and conclusion. Today would be our last friday of the year 2011 and the last week of 2011. The past two weeks have been great. Next week we will be having our first test and I wish everyone Good Luck. Happy New Year!
Editing and Writing the Paragraph Online
As I was reading more into these chapters, it gave greater explanations on as to why editing is important to a successful paper. The acronym (COPS) is useful and reminds me what I should go over when editing a paper. Majority of the time whenever I write a paper, not reading it out loud to myself causes me to make careless mistakes. Learning about editing a paper slowly allows me to transition in to writing a paragraph. A well-written paragraph cannot be well-written if there is no editing involved. So, these two chapters work hand in hand with each other.
Second Week of Online Class
Good evening everyone, today we did not get to meet face-to-face, but instead we had our class online. Our task was to discuss the purpose and the important keys of editing, and the different types of paragraphs in an essay. We all should already know the main points of editing, or in other words proofreading. To refresh your memory, editing is the last stage in the writing process. It is where we look over your paper for any errors in capitalization, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. In my opinion, proofreading is the most important step in your writing process. If you skip proofreading your paper before your submission, you may get it back with a lot of red marks and a low grade! It is always best to double check your work. Moving forward in our lesson, we learned about the types of paragraphs in an essay. The strategy in writing an essay is ins sequential order. The first paragraph of your essay is your introduction, where you will find your thesis statement and discuss about your topic. In support for your topic you have the developmental and transitional paragraphs. To wrap up your whole paper, you have your final concluding paragraph. These paragraphs will hep remind us how the outline of our overall paper will look like.

2nd Week is Over
Hey classmates! Well today we have our moodle session so we meet online today. Today we learned about the four types of paragraphs, which are intoductory, develomental, transitional, and concluding. Each type have a purpose. So far in this class, I have learned a great deal of information in this intersession. I use to think that writing was easy, but now I know for sure that writing is not so easy as I thought it was. This week went by really fast and next week is 2012. Happy New Year to all of you.
Second Week of Intersession
Hello everyone, I hope that you all had a great three day weekend! Sadly, for us it's back to work! In the last two days of class, we met in the Computer Lab, where we went over Chapters three and four. In chapter three we learned about developing a clear and rational thesis. Your thesis statement should always have a subject and a focus, and it should not be vague, too broad, or too narrow. Then, after we finally come up with a good thesis statement, we go back to the stage one pre-writing skills, which are free writing, brainstorming, clustering, and listing. We use the pre-writing skills to help gather our thoughts and information before starting off our paper. Once we have a list of ideas and information, we can organize it by putting it into an outline. There are different kinds of outlines such as narration, exemplification, analysis by division, process analysis, and causes and effects.
Finally, in Chapter four "The Writing Process: Stage Three - Writing/Revising/Editing", is taking stages one and two and combining it together to make a paragraph. We are taught to keep in mind this acronym "CLUESS", which stands for Coherence, Language, Unity, Emphasis, Support and Sentences. It is recommended not to stray off topic when writing your paper, and be consistent in what you are talking about. When you are finished with you paper, you must edit your draft. While you are correcting your paper look out for Capitalization, Omissions, Punctuation, and Spelling, in other words "COPS". Now that we went over all three stages of the writing process, we are able to use these techniques to improve our writing abilities!
12. 28. 2011
Today we learned about organizing Support. There are three tools: listing, clustering, outlining, which help us to organize the supporting material. Especially, we did the exercises related to outlining. It was a good time because I could hear how everyone build up their outline. Also, we studied The Writing Process Stage Three: Writing/ Revising/ Editing. It was quite a lot to cover in a day, but I could understand and followed. Oh, fortunately, I was picked out and recieved the chocolate by Dr. Rivera for Happy New Year gift. Thank you again, and Happy New Year! :)

Ch 3 &4
Today, we covered quite a lot. My favorite part of today's discussion was the CLUESS. C stands for coherence. L stands for language. U stands for unity. E stands for emphasis and the two S stands for support and sentences. I also learned that even our outline could be changed. We are always on task.
Today, we went over the exercise focusing on outlining. The topic outline is more common in writing paragraphs and essays. The parts are arranged through the number and letter sequence, the punctuation, and the placement of words. Outlining is the tool that most people think of in connection with organizing. Because it is flexible and widely used. It indicates the plan for a paragraph or an essay you intend to write. It shows the organization of the passage you are reading.

12.27.2011
Did you guys have a great holiday? We had our online classes and Christmas. Today we met in computer lab, and we studied stage two of the writing process. We learned dividing a sentence into subject and focus (treatment), and to figure out if it is effective or ineffective. Also, we wrote the topic sentence and thesis for our own topic. This stage is helpful to prepare for writing. These days, I am interested in prewriting stages that we are learning. Besides, I felt good as I participated in class, because I feel I could be more confident.
Learning How to Write the Controlling Idea as a Topic Sentence
Today in class we all learned more about how to write the controlling idea as a Topic Sentence. To me, this was one of the complications I have always had while writing a paper. Writing a topic sentence is definately a major part in writing a successful paper. It was also interesting learning about how everyone of you would end the topic sentence and share what you had in mind. Knowing how creative you guys are in ending topic sentences allows me to challenge myself and to think of more ideas for a paper.
Stage 2: Writing the Controlling Idea as a Topic Sentence or Thesis
Class started at 4:30 p.m. at the computer lab. We discussed about the ineffective and effective ways of writing a thesis or topic sentence. We also defined the following words; focus, subject, topic sentence, and thesis. Your topic sentence or thesis has to be persuasive and interesting if you don't want your audience to be bored.
12/27/11
Today, we talked about the stage two in the writing process. We learned that the most important advice this book can offer you is state you are controlling idea and support it. Your writing will be unfocused and your readers may be confused if you have no controlling idea, no topic sentence, or thesis. A topic sentence for a paragraph and the thesis for an essay have both a subject and a focus. The subject is what you write about and the focus is what you intend to do with your subject. We also learned the difference between ineffective and effective.

Second Day on Moodle
Learning more about the stage one strategies provide more of an emphasis on how a successful paper can be written. It was also interesting uploading a file to moodle. It reminded me a lot of when files are attached to emails and pictures to Facebook. I think I'm pretty much getting a hang of all these online blogs and our virtual class room.

First Online Class
In the last two days, we did not meet face to face for our class meetings, but instead we had discussions online. In the beginning, I was worried about having classes online because I was not so familiar with what to do or what goes on. In the end, I found it very easy and convenient, whereas I can have class discussions in the comfort of my home at any time. In this lesson, I read about the Stage One Strategies in writing. I learned that before we start our paper we always have to be aware about the requirements of the assignment. Once, we know all the requirements in starting our assignment, then we can get started in the pre-writing. Some pre-writing strategies are, free writing, brainstorming, clustering, and gathering information. If we follow these simple steps in the stage one strategies we can be well on our way to start on your paper.
I hope that everyone has a exceptional and blessed Christmas. Happy Holidays everyone!
It's Friday & All About Me Essay is Due
Hey classmates! So today is our second day of online session. I just finished replying to Dr. Rivera about the importance of stage on strategies. As of right now I am working on my essay. I am writing the final draft because it is due today. Merry Christmas to all of you and see you next week. Our first week of intersession is now over.
Online Online Online....................
The first day of the online class went out smoothly. The online session was a good opportunity for all us to communicate in a different way. It was a good experience and something I would prefer again in the upcoming classes. The assignment went out great. Everybody had a lot of great outlooks.
My First Online Class
Wow! I never knew how interesting online classes can be, especially if I am the one to determine whether or not to attend. It gives me more lessons on time management and allows me to also set my priorities. I had almost forgotten that class was online today until I looked at my calendar. It is a good thing I did attend! My first time posting online was a bit complicated, but I had managed to get through. It was also interesting learning about the writing process. I did not know that it was categorized into more than one stage. Also, reading everyone's reaction or summary of the writing process allowed me agree in majority of the posts in our online classroom. Many of the posts reminded me that our paper is greatly criticized by our audience.
The first online course
Today is my first time to take the online class. I had to discuss the importance of ‘Stage One – Exploring/Experimenting/Gathering Information’ with my classmates online. So I read about it in the class textbook first and tried to summarize the important points. At first, I was hesitant to participate in the online part of this class because it is my first time. But after I finished my post, I felt more comfortable that I could use my time more economically.

1st Online Class
Today was our first online class and so far I am loving it. Chapter 2 will come in handy in our english classes because it discusses about the four approaches in stage one; freewriting, brainstorming, clustering, and gathering information
Someone I can relate to...
We studied at the computer lab on the third day of the class. I learned about citations. Also, we studied the essay, ‘The Struggle to Be an All-American Girl.’ I could understand the writer’s feeling because I was in a similar situation as her when I lived abroad before. I used to avoid my country’s language and insisted on speaking Chinese. Also, I hated eating and even smelling Korean food, such as kimchi. However, now, I love my language and food. Her essay was so interesting to me because I could sympathize with the writer.

Second day in EN100
I have little nervous mind to came to the class because my English is not completely clear. I felt so bad becuase I was late for the class at the first day, but I am not going to repeat the same mistake. I learned reading-based writing on the second day. I studied underlining, annotating, and outlining. Also, I learned how to do the summary, reaction, and two-part response. I feel hard to participate atively yet, but I'm trying to do the best in the class.
On The Third Day of EN 100
I did not post anything pertaining to the class yesterday, but today, it was interesting learning about a person trying to change her culture. I thought that the short essay we read today related to me in so many ways. It is a drastic change when you're a foreigner, especially if you have no idea what someone is saying. You might get the feeling that people are talking bad about you. Reading this essay brings me back to the first day of class. What to expect when something or a group of people is entirely new to you? I really enjoyed today's reading and learning about different cultures and culture shocks.
So Far in EN100
In the last two days of our class meetings, we went over a great deal of information. On Tuesday, we learned new reading techniques that helped our understanding in all of our reading selections. Those tips are outlining, annotating, and underlining, doing so will help me gather the main ideas and important details in whatever I read. And so forth, by helping me write and correct my own piece. We also learned about the rules of evaluating and writing summaries. Today, we learned the basic steps in citing a writing piece and how to insert it in your own writing. We read two stories, one being "The Struggle to Be an All-American Girl". We did some critical thinking exercises and a reading-based responses. Lastly, we spent the last few minutes of class time familiarizing ourselves with Moodle in preparation for our first online class encounter tomorrow. It's almost the end of week one, I can finally say that I'm getting a hang of this class.
EN100-01 3rd Day
Today's discussion was fun. We read this essay called "The Struggle to Be an All-American Girl" by Elizabeth Wong. I believe Wong was mistaken by being embarassed of her own culture. She should've been proud of where she came from.
Second Day at EN 100
Today, we proofread our essays. It was good that someone can proofread our essay because we have the opportunity to know what others have to say about our essay. We also went over to the kinds of support for reading based/text-based writing, which are explanation, references, and quotations. We also learned about citations. It was a good and busy Wednesday.
2nd Day of En100-01
Yesterday went by really fast. So far I think I am getting the hang of things. I'm still not use to the online class because recently I had a problem with posting my comments. But it's all good. I'm really enjoying the way things are going.

Looking Forward
Meeting six new people and learning about what is in store during this intercession, I had a wonderful first day in my EN 100 class. I have never taken an online course before; therefore, I am not familiar with many things. I do look forward to a fun, fast paced intercession in the English department. Also, I am greatly hoping to learn and correct the many mistakes I still continue making in punctuation, grammar, and many sentence structures. Let's hope this intercession becomes better than we expect!
EN 100 Dr. Rivera 12/19/11 "First Day"
The first day of class was fairly interesting. Well, everybody in the class was all females. I did not know that it can actually happen in college. I have no problem with that situation. It still felt the same. There was no need for me to change my discernments in accordance to the form of the individuals surrounding me. First, of all we introduce ourselves to the class. Then, we went over the syllabus, moodle instructions, and blog instructions. The whole process was explained briefly. Finally, Dr. Rivera explained the calendar. The first day of class went along very quickly. However, I have a sense that this class will be pleasurable all throughout.
First Day of EN100 (Fall Intersession)
Good evening, it has been a great first day of school for the Fall Intersession. In today's lesson plan, we went over the standard classroom procedures, and also some tips for our online sessions. I am happy to learn that we have online sessions because I don't have to drive all the way up to UOG every single day. The online class time may be a challenge to get acquainted with, but hopefully after some practice it will be a piece of cake! Despite me having only one class with only five other classmates, I feel that the next three to four weeks will go by really smoothly and fast! EN100 here I come!

First Day of EN100 - Fall Intersession 2011
It has only been the first day of class for EN100 and I am already getting the feeling that this course will keep me busy for the next 3 weeks of class. Nevertheless, I am not going to give up and drop the class. I will finish what I got myself into.
